Go Wild Cats, A Spectacular School Musical Production
The production week began with a full weekend of technical rehearsals. It was impressive to see the students’ professionalism and stamina as they repeated scenes to refine the lighting cues, adjust sound levels, perfect stage positions and practise entrances and exits. For the first time in four years, the cast and crew managed to run the entire show by Sunday afternoon - a huge achievement that gave them a real advantage when we welcomed hundred Year 4 pupils from Vaughan Primary School for the preview performance.
In true theatrical fashion, the dress rehearsal was full of mishaps, but as the saying goes, “a bad dress rehearsal means a good first show.” And that proved true: from Year 13 to Year 7, every student pulled together for the remainder of the week to deliver three fantastic performances. Whether working front of house, backstage, on lighting, in the band or on stage, each student played a vital role in bringing the production to life.
Beyond the excitement of performing, the show offered students the chance to work with professional-level sound, lighting, and musicians. It also helped them build resilience, grow in confidence and form positive relationships across year groups - experiences that will stay with them long after the final curtain call.
A huge thank you to James Veysey for capturing the most stunning photographs, and to our audience members, parents, teachers, support staff and students for helping make this production yet another positive, memorable and truly valuable experience for everyone.
