Year 10 Geography Fieldwork Success in Watford

From 6th to 11th June, our Year 10 GCSE Geography students embarked on an enriching fieldwork experience in Watford. The mornings were dedicated to human geography investigations, focussing on the success of regeneration efforts at Watford Shopping Parade. Students diligently followed a transect conducting shopping surveys, pedestrian counts and geographical narratives at two distinct sites. This hands-on approach allowed them to gather valuable primary data and gain a deeper understanding of urban regeneration.

In the afternoons, the focus shifted to physical geography as students explored Cassiobury Park. Here, they examined changes in river channel width and bedload size and shape downstream along the River Gade. This practical fieldwork provided students with the opportunity to observe and measure natural processes in a real-world setting, enhancing their comprehension of fluvial geomorphology. Their hard work and dedication ensured they collected sufficient primary data for their studies.

As the fieldwork phase concludes, students will now turn their attention to analysing their results and drawing conclusions. This critical phase will involve interpreting the data and understanding the implications of their findings. A special thank you goes to Miss Perry, Mr. Daebes, Mr. Harding, Mr. Gritten, Mr. Massey and Mrs. De Lima for their invaluable support and guidance throughout this project. Well done to all our Year 10 Geographers for their hard work and commitment!
