Welcome to Whitmore High School

It is my pleasure on behalf of the governors, staff and students to welcome you to the school.

Whitmore High School is a mixed comprehensive school with an excellent record of achievement. Students are expected to achieve the highest standards of work and behaviour in a positive, friendly but disciplined atmosphere. Our staff are highly qualified and passionate about ensuring all students reach their full potential and we work closely with parents to achieve this aim.

  • Anti Racism: As part of Anti Racism at Whitmore, we recommend the following books: Minor Feelings by Cathy Park Hong and The Good Immigrant by Nikesh Shukla. Books are a great tool to learn more about other cultures and widen our understanding of the experience of others.
  • Budding writers in Y7! Enter the Library’s Short Story Competition to celebrate and win prizes! Put your favourite book character in a completely different setting and tell us your story in 500-1,000 words. Guest judge will pick the best stories!
  • Whitmore’s 2021 has gone virtual! Y7 students have been helping us interview authors Patrice Lawrence , , , Josh Martin and Chris McDermott, and trying out all the Library’s World Book Day activities!
  • "Congratulations to Jonny (13RDB) for qualifying for Round 2 of the UK Linguistics Olympiad (UKLO) Advanced competition by being in the top 50. We wish him the very best on 17th March and hope he will be representing the UK at the International Linguistics Olympiad."
