Christmas Appeal 2020
As part of our commitment to the local community, we have again this year ran our Christmas appeal to support local causes.
Students in years 9, 10 and 11 have been contributing toys to donate to children spending Christmas at Northwick Park Hospital.
Students in years 7, 8, 12 and 13 have been collecting food items to donate to our local food bank. Food banks work within the local community to tackle food hunger and poverty, collecting and distributing food and other essentials for those in the local community who need them.
The Trussell Trust supports a nationwide network of food banks which together provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK. In the UK, more than 14 million people are living in poverty – including 4.5 million children. The trust supports more than 1,200 food bank centres to provide a minimum of three days’ nutritionally-balanced emergency food to people who have been referred in crisis, as well as support to help people resolve the crises they face. Between April 2019 and March 2020, the trust’s food banks network provided a record 1.9 million food supplies to people in crisis, an 18% increase on the previous year and during the coronavirus pandemic food banks have seen this need rise even further. Thank you for all of your donations, both toys and food items. Given the current times and challenges people are facing, we were especially happy to receive such generous donations for these local causes. Your toys and food items have been delivered this week, and staff at both the local food bank and Northwick Park Hospital were extremely grateful to receive your generous gifts.
