Primary to Secondary Transition
The transition from Primary to Secondary school in Year 7 is a big step for any child. At Whitmore, we do everything we can to smooth your child's transition to our school.
We have strong and lasting links with our local network of primary schools, and during the Summer term of Year 6, our Year 7 team normally take part in a series of visits and transition days to introduce your child to Whitmore and take part in taster lessons.
Please find below resources to support your child's transition to Year 7 at Whitmore.
We have put together activities from each of our subject areas in our Transition Booklet (see below). You would have had a chance to try some of these on workshop day and we wanted to give you the chance to try the tasks at home!
Some activities will need your parents/carers to supervise you - please let them know when you are thinking about starting these tasks. We hope that you enjoy the activities and we will review your progress in September when you begin at the school. Good luck!
Welcome from the Headteacher and Head of Year 7
We are very proud to release our virtual school tour video. This has been written, directed and produced by our students here at Whitmore. They volunteered to create this film and have spent a great deal of time and effort on it - we are very grateful to them and the staff that supported them. We hope this will give our new Year 7 a brief reminder of the school and ready them for beginning with us in September.
Top tips from our current Year 7s
The letters contained in this video were written by different students in our current Year 7 and they give helpful advice to the Year 7 students beginning with us in September. Like the virtual tour, this was created, filmed, produced and directed by our students and they have done an excellent job!
